On Sunday morning, I bought a metal part from the edge of an antique market. It fits in the palm of my hand, feels surprisingly heavy, and has three holes placed at uneven intervals. The seller did not know what it was for either.
I looked into it after I got home, but found no answer. The only thing I could tell was that it seemed to have been made on a lathe. It is sitting on my desk now.
It is good to have one thing in the room that can remain unexplained.

A few days later, a visitor said, “It may be part of a jig.” They did not know what kind of jig it belonged to.
